Amazon has been named the most popular employer in the UK by leading job and recruitment site Glassdoor.

The report was compiled using a sample of UK-based job seekers searching for jobs over a year (1 July 2018 to 30 June 2019) to identify which employers received the most clicks on Glassdoor’s open job postings.

Glassdoor’s list of The UK’s Most In-Demand Companies indicates that the technology and finance industries are competing for the best talent in roles such as analysts, engineers and developers – with technology companies like Amazon winning the popularity contest.

When looking at why some companies are more popular than others, a recent study from Glassdoor’s Economic Research team found culture and values to be the biggest drivers of workplace satisfaction for UK employees.

In combination with the UK’s Most In-Demand Companies report, these findings underline that businesses must be clear in their values and what they stand for in order to attract, recruit and retain top talent.

At Amazon, our Leadership Principles are a key component of our culture. Amazon employees use them every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on solutions to a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.

This recognition from Glassdoor follows news that Amazon received this year’s Women in Tech Female Tech Employer of the Year Award. Earlier this year, Amazon ranked top in LinkedIn’s Top Companies in the UK 2019, recognising the company as the most popular employer “where UK professionals want to work now”.

Launched in 2008, Glassdoor helps employers hire informed candidates at scale and has reviews and insights for more than a million companies across 190 countries.
