In 2020, Amazon opened the doors to its Manchester office, located in the city’s Northern Quarter in the historic Hanover Building, a Grade II-listed site which was built more than a century ago in 1907.

As Amazon’s first head office in the UK outside of London, it occupies all six storeys of the building and is home to approximately 600 Amazon employees.
All Amazon sites worldwide are named after the nearest international airport. The Manchester office — or MAN11 — is just 11 miles from Manchester International Airport.
Welcome to Amazon’s Manchester office
Amazon employees and visitors to MAN11 are immediately greeted by a six-story atrium filled with natural light and modern industrial architecture.

This space is filled with relaxation areas and places for employees to unwind. In one corner is a reading area with bleachers, while canteen-style seating nearby provides a bright, airy space for lunchtime hangouts.

Elsewhere, table tennis and pool tables allow employees to blow off some steam and engage in some friendly competition.

The opening of the office created 600 Amazon jobs in Manchester, and now the 90,000 sq ft building is home to highly skilled tech and non-tech employees including software development engineers, solutions architects, applied scientists, business development specialists, and finance analysts.

Varied workspaces throughout the building allow employees to choose their working environment. Phone booths are the perfect place to take calls or work in private, while huddle spaces with sofa seating provide the perfect collaborative space.
On the top floor, the building’s original architecture, slanted roof, and steel frame provide an incredibly unique workspace.

You’ll find bright, motivating artwork dotted throughout the office, including a piece which reads “learn and be curious,” which leans into Amazon’s customer obsession, innovation, and long-term thinking.
