For the seventh consecutive year, Amazon has been voted by customers as their favourite UK retailer at the Retail Week Awards – and also picked up an award in one more category.

Amazon is proud to have been named the winner of Retail Week’s Consumer Choice Award. We strive to earn and retain the trust of our customers, and are humbled to be recognised once again for our dedication to elevating the customer experience.

Surplus essentials will be donated to 40,000 families living in poverty.

This year, Amazon also won an award in one more category, the Silver Distribution/Delivery Hero Award.

Amazon’s ‘Distribution Hero’ Simon McMahon

Simon McMahon, Senior Programme Manager at Amazon in the UK, received the Silver Distribution/Delivery Hero Award for his efforts donating surplus products to families in need, through the Multibank initiative.

Co-founded in 2022 by Amazon and former Prime Minister Gordon Brown, the first Multibank was established in Fife, Scotland, near Amazon’s Dunfermline fulfilment centre, where Simon began his career at Amazon more than 13 years ago. In 2023, Amazon opened a second in Wigan to support families in need across Greater Manchester, and a third in Swansea this year. More than 2 million surplus products have now been donated to over 200,000 families as a result of the initiative.

Amazon’s Green Initiative of the Year

Amazon was also shortlisted for ‘Green Initiative of the Year’ for the rapid roll-out of an electric cargo bike fleet, now making deliveries from five hubs across London, Manchester and Glasgow.

Sustainable deliveries in Scotland’s biggest city will be boosted as Amazon expands its electric cargo bike fleet, following the launch of fleets in London and Manchester last year.

Launched as part of our £300 million investment in the electrification and decarbonisation of our UK transportation network, the fleet (operated by our trusted delivery service partners) makes more than 2.5 million annual customer deliveries. Across Europe hubs now operate in more than 20 cities.

These bikes join more than 1,000 electric delivery vans and nine fully electric Heavy Goods Vehicles which have taken the place of traditional diesel trucks.

It is great to see our colleagues recognised for their impactful work throughout the UK, and we are humbled that our customers have continued to vote for us as their winner in the Consumer Choice category.
