The AWS Educate Challenge is a brand new inter-university initiative where students from UK and Ireland build cloud computing skills and compete for a chance to win prizes.
Through AWS Educate, educators and students can access content and resources specially designed to develop skills in growing fields such as cloud computing, machine learning and much more. The programme is used in more than 200 countries, benefiting over 10,000 educators and hundreds of thousands of students. The new AWS Educate Challenge will award students prizes according to the number of AWS Educate Cloud Career Pathways and Badges they completed.
Aisha Suleiman, AWS Educate EMEA Program Manager, said: “Our industry grows each year, with cloud computing the top-ranked skill on LinkedIn in four of the past five years. At the same time, the skills gap continues to grow, creating additional demand for students to learn foundational cloud concepts.”
“As Amazon’s global initiative to provide students with the resources they need to accelerate cloud-related learning, AWS Educate and the AWS Educate Challenge can help power the next generation of builders, inventors and innovators.”
Prizes will include winning trophies, Amazon vouchers, Alexa devices and an exclusive invitation to virtually meet Amazon student recruiters based in London and Dublin.
Points will be assigned for completing each of the AWS Educate pathways and digital badges received between the challenge period of October 5 and November 23. Winners will be selected based on how many points they have earned.
Students who sign up for the challenge and complete Cloud Career Pathways and badges will earn points. Prizes will be awarded to the students with the most points and include Amazon vouchers, Alexa devices, and an exclusive invitation to virtually meet Amazon student recruiters based in London and Dublin. The winning students will receive resume and interview preparation insights. The top 10 Universities with the highest number of student points will receive a trophy.
