Thanks to employees making Amazon a great place to work, we’re pleased to hear we've taken first place in the 2019 Linkedin Top Companies list in the UK.

We are delighted to announce that both AmazonPwD and the group’s chair Suzie Miller have been nominated for this year’s National Diversity Awards, set to be held on September 20th at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral.

The National Diversity Awards bring together Britain’s most inspirational people to recognise and celebrate their contribution to UK society, from grass roots community initiatives to major organisations that have contributed to creating a more diverse and inclusive society.

Our employee affinity group, AmazonPwD, has been nominated for the Community Organisation (Disability) Award in recognition of its support in making Amazon a more diverse and inclusive place to work. The UK chapter was launched in May 2018 as part of Global Accessibility Awareness. Since then it has steadily grown its membership offering and has successfully empowered employees by raising awareness, supporting career development, participating in community outreach and improving access for Amazon employees and customers.

Recent AmazonPwD events have included talks about people with disabilities and inclusive design, plus taster lessons on British Sign Language, mental health awareness talks and a hackathon for British Heart Foundation which included CPR lessons for attendees and other staff.

Suzie Miller, chair of AmazonPwD and AWS Solutions Architect, has also been nominated for the Positive Role Model (Disability) Award. Alongside her work as a Solutions Architect with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Suzie oversaw the launch of AmazonPwD in 2018 and she has been a passionate advocate for positive change ever since.

Suzie is particularly passionate about universal and inclusive design in technology and she is committed to identifying ways in which AWS can improve its services to create better experiences for people with disabilities.

A huge congratulations and thank you to both Suzie and AmazonPwD for their work in ensuring Amazon is a diverse and inclusive workplace for all - and please give your votes for Suzie and PwD to win!
