Prime Video will be the UK and Ireland home for Love Monday TV’s major new three-part premium documentary series Diana: Her Secret Confessions, which draws on hours of never-before-heard, intimate audio recordings to reframe one of the most enduring, iconic narratives of our time.
The acquisition from Prime Video UK was announced as worldwide distribution partner Cineflix Rights launched the series to international buyers at MIPCOM under the title Diana Unheard.
What is the series about?
Long portrayed primarily through the lens of vulnerability and tragedy, Princess Diana is revealed in these secret recordings as self-aware, determined, and actively shaping her own future. Hours of unheard, unfiltered, and unguarded audio, recorded by the Princess herself during conversations with a close companion, offer audiences her private reflections on identity, resilience, and purpose.
Over three episodes packed with emotion and humour, Diana discusses the key moments of her life, from childhood and marriage to her husband’s long-term affair with the future Queen, Camilla, and her hopes for her own children, Princes William and Harry.
The series also reveals the extraordinary lengths Diana herself went to in order to ensure her story could be heard. She devised a daring plan to have the tapes secretly smuggled out of Kensington Palace, an extraordinary act of courage and one of the biggest risks she ever took. The recordings would ultimately have an explosive impact on the Royal Family, the British establishment, and the world.
Backed by interviews with those who knew her well, this unprecedented series reveals the real Diana, stepping out of history’s shadow and into her own light as she changes the face of the British monarchy forever.
Kerene Barefield, Creative Director Love Monday TV and Executive Producer said: “Diana, Princess of Wales is often portrayed as victim of her circumstances, with the narrative around her even today still being written and argued about by powerful men. By centring our series on hours of intimate recordings Diana made herself, Diana: Her Secret Confessions reclaims and reframes her own story, in her own words. Through exclusive access for the first time to the complete collection of these extraordinary tapes, together with interviews with those who knew her, audiences will hear Diana’s voice as never before, showing her not as a passive victim of events, but as a strong woman who is risking everything to take control of her own narrative. I’m thrilled to be working with Prime Video to bring this series to UK and Ireland viewers.”
