Each day over half a million children in the UK arrive at school too hungry to concentrate and learn. We are supporting Magic Breakfast to help address this issue by providing healthy breakfasts so that children can focus and improve their educational attainment.

We support breakfast clubs in the communities where Amazon operates, reaching over 5,000 primary school pupils a day. Our funding enables each school to run a daily breakfast club which includes wholegrain bagels, cereals, juice and porridge. Since our partnership began in 2016 we have enabled Magic Breakfast to provide over 1.5 million breakfasts.

Along with funding daily breakfasts, our donation provides a dedicated support worker who works with the school to improve nutrition among children, spot the signs of hunger and target hard-to-reach children. Magic Breakfast helps the schools to educate children on healthy eating and reaches out to parents to improve nutrition in the home.

Sharon Taylor-Sezgin, Headteacher of St John's CE Primary School in Bethnal Green, London, who has received Magic Breakfast provision for the last four years and is currently supported by Amazon, said: "Magic Breakfast’s provision is having a big impact on our school, with pupils enjoying time each morning to eat, socialise and read before starting lessons settled and ready to learn. St John's is delighted to be one of the schools whose breakfast provision is being supported by Amazon."

Magic Breakfast’s founder and Chief Executive, Carmel McConnell MBE, said: “A hungry child cannot concentrate, and the most important lessons are taught in the morning. So if we as a country want to improve attainment and social mobility, it makes sense to grow the successful Magic Breakfast approach into a national school breakfast programme. It is great having Amazon’s support – helping us to reach more of the half a million children who turn up to school too hungry or malnourished to learn.”
