Investing in our communities
Wherever we operate, we contribute to the communities we work in.

In 2020, we provided in-kind services, cash, and product donations to support vulnerable groups across the UK.

Investing in our communities

We actively recruit locally, and we also support local schools, colleges, and community projects.
Here are just some examples of the organisations we’re proud to have helped...
  • Magic Breakfast
    Magic Breakfast
We have partnered with Magic Breakfast to ensure that vulnerable children have access to healthy breakfasts, providing the fuel their young minds and bodies need to make the most of their morning lessons. In normal circumstances, the charity would provide children with free, healthy breakfasts at school. With schools closed due to COVID-19, Magic Breakfast has adapted its distribution model, with Amazon’s help, to ensure children can enjoy their free meals at home. Since April 2020, we have delivered 4 million breakfasts for free to children all over the UK.

    National Health Services (NHS)
We delivered 50,000 care boxes to NHS staff and other front-line workers across the UK to show Amazon’s appreciation for their work providing essential services in COVID-19 hotspots. We developed the care and well-being kits by partnering with Amazon vendors and sellers who generously donated their products. It’s a small token of gratitude to remind key workers, including nurses, doctors, cleaning staff, porters, and security guards, to take care of their own well-being during this difficult time. Each box contains snacks, a skincare product, and an entertainment item to help take their minds off the demands of the day.
  • British Red Cross female employees
    British Red Cross
Amazon pledged in 2020 to support people most affected by the COVID-19 crisis in the UK. The pledge included a substantial donation to the British Red Cross, which has used the money to help extend the capacity of the NHS, support its logistics network in more than 150 NHS hospitals, provide over 20,000 care packages for elderly and isolated residents, and collect and deliver medicine to people unable to leave their homes during lockdowns. This donation also helped the British Red Cross provide loans for mobility equipment, funding for psychosocial support networks, and contributed to temporary housing for 1,500 asylum seekers. Amazon also encouraged customers to become local British Red Cross volunteers, an effort that contributed to 81,000 new sign-ups across the country.

    UK Government
We leveraged our logistics network to support the UK government’s COVID-19 testing programme by distributing testing kits to homes around the country. This helped people get tested when they were unable to reach a testing site. In total, we delivered 7 million COVID-19 testing kits, free of charge.
